Employers: how to meet the challenge
of managing employee travel?
With rising expectations from employees for work-related travel and environmental commitments, companies need to encourage the use of more sustainable modes of transport. SNCF Connect & Tech helps you make sense of employee travel management, regulations, and the diversity of needs and offerings.

Nearly 8 out of 10 working people say they give priority to using their personal vehicle for work-related travel (Comment les actifs français se rendent-ils au travail ? [How do French working people get to work?] - Alphabet France x Ifop barometer, 2024). Whether for reasons of comfort, practicality or lack of alternatives, this trend underlines how important it is for companies to support their employees in transitioning to more sustainable modes of transport. So how can companies support them in this transition with ease? Marie-Laure Mallet, New Markets Business Development Manager at SNCF Connect & Tech, explains.

Employee travel: a challenge for companies
The transport sector is one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. However, by promoting alternatives to private car use, companies can significantly reduce their carbon footprint. With an increasingly diverse workforce, managing business travel can become a real challenge, as companies have to cater for a variety of profiles while simplifying complex administrative procedures. A further difficulty for employers is the constantly evolving legal framework surrounding mobility.
Last but not least, tax-free benefits linked to the financing of business travel and commuting are now an asset in attracting and retaining talent. Hence the importance of adopting responsible policies that offer practical, sustainable solutions for employees' travel needs.
“It's clear that employee travel involves organisational, regulatory, financial and managerial challenges. In such a context, having an all-in-one tool that is connected, personalised and adapted to the company's travel policy - such as Tesmo Business Mobility - clearly makes a difference.”

Tesmo Business Mobility, an all-in-one tool that simplifies employee travel management
Tesmo Business Mobility is an innovative solution, developed by SNCF Connect & Tech, which centralises and simplifies the management of employee travel, whether for commuting or business trips. The aim is to help companies offer streamlined, sustainable and fully personalised travel options while meeting their employees' needs.
Tesmo Business Mobility provides mobility managers with an overview of all available schemes: financing of transport season tickets, sustainable travel allowances, door-to-door business travel, etc. For employees, Tesmo Business Mobility offers flexibility and autonomy: they can easily book, change or cancel their journeys, and have access to a wide range of transport solutions. Another advantage is that each company can adapt the tool to its own needs and to the diversity of its workforce.

Tesmo Business Mobility can be easily integrated into existing systems to optimise the management of transport flows while complying with regulations.
Transparency and efficiency
By centralising travel management tools, Tesmo Business Mobility enables companies to save precious time and automate travel-related administrative tasks. A solution designed to meet companies' obligation to digitalise their tools to make them accessible and comply with new inclusive standards.
More transparency for greater clarity is also the promise of Tesmo Business Mobility, which gives every employee easy access to his or her company's travel policy. With over 3,500 merchants listed, they have access to a varied range of products to meet their specific needs. A guarantee of satisfaction for employees, who can adapt their travel according to their preferences, while remaining aligned with their company's travel policy.
What's next?
Since its pilot launch at SNCF Connect & Tech in October 2023, Tesmo Business Mobility has already made commuting and business travel easier for over 1,000 employees, while optimising travel tool costs.
“The feedback has been very positive. Payroll teams save time thanks to the centralisation of all travel management tools, and employees appreciate the autonomy and not having to advance travel expenses. This improves their satisfaction and reduces stress, contributing to a more serene and productive working environment.”

From June 2025, companies will be able to implement Tesmo Business Mobility and make it available to their employees. The tool will then evolve in line with companies' needs. Future developments could include the integration of a smart carbon footprint calculator and a solution to encourage employees with combustion-powered company cars to switch to more varied and environmentally-friendly modes of transport.
