Tesmo, the brand that makes 25 years of technological know-how visible
With the launch of Tesmo, SNCF Connect & Tech has confirmed its position as a partner to mobility stakeholders, offering off-the-shelf solutions and complementary tailored services. Bertrand Blais, editor and product manager, talks about the construction of a modular portfolio, designed in bricks to facilitate integration.

Tesmo was born out of a two-fold observation: firstly, that the market was fragmenting, and secondly, that we needed to offer solutions that were more readable, more modular, and above all, closer to the real needs of the market. Hence the question: how do we position SNCF Connect & Tech's offer in such a context? Interview.
Can you tell us a bit about Tesmo?
Tesmo is the new SNCF Connect & Tech brand dedicated to our business as a mobility solutions and digital services provider.
Alongside SNCF Connect, which is aimed directly at passengers, Tesmo talks to local authorities, businesses and mobility operators. It's a way of embodying and making visible 25 years of know-how in rail tech, and of putting it to work today for an entire ecosystem.
What prompted you to rethink your product portfolio and launch Tesmo?
Historically, SNCF was both rail operator and distributor. But regulatory changes have profoundly transformed the landscape: the regions now have a great deal of autonomy in the organization of mobility, far beyond rail transport alone. This opening up to competition has fragmented the market and given rise to new needs.
Our response to these challenges is to support regions and operators in their transition, using proven technological tools. Tesmo embodies this new approach: sharing our expertise to facilitate mobility everywhere, for everyone.
In an environment where mobility is diversifying and the number of mobility stakeholders is multiplying, how can we maintain a clear offering?
That's precisely Tesmo's challenge: to make the complex simple!
Today, a region like PACA has to integrate up to 80 operators into its transport system. Our mission is to make the operation transparent for the everyday user: a single payment, a single search, a single experience. Tesmo relies on a clear architecture and interfaces designed to mask complexity, without ever denying it.
How have you structured Tesmo's product portfolio?
Our offering is growing stronger every day. To date, we have a portfolio of six turnkey solutions covering the entire mobility cycle: white-label site creation, passenger information (real-time and multimodal), sales, after-sales, customer relations and ticket control. In addition, there are two complementary modules, including a post-payment or "pay-as-you-go" solution, and another dedicated to companies, to simplify the management of business travel without expense claims.
All these bricks are modular: they can be deployed together or independently, as required. The idea is to offer the power of a complete ecosystem without imposing a single model.
How did you incorporate feedback from the field into the design of your offering?
It's a cornerstone of our approach. We are in constant contact with the regions and operators to understand their constraints and users' expectations.
On our tools for train and station staff, for example, we have redesigned the ergonomics based on real-life situations to improve productivity and user comfort. We take the same approach with our passenger apps: we always start with usage (a single payment, a seamless experience...) before tackling the technical side. Our mission is to offer users seamless experiences in a complex environment.
How does Tesmo address its different target groups?
Tesmo was initially designed for local authorities, regions, cities, etc., but we quickly identified other needs, in particular those of existing operators.
That's why we quickly opted for fully-configurable solutions that can meet the needs of local authorities, operators and distributors alike. Our approach is one of co-construction, tailored to the needs of both public and private players.
What are Tesmo's ambitions for the coming years?
We're just at the beginning of the story. Tesmo is at the heart of SNCF Connect & Tech's strategy: it supports our ambition to become a benchmark player in digital mobility, not only in France but also in Europe.
Major projects such as the PACA region (one of Europe's largest mobility projects by 2026) testify to the potential of this portfolio. Our priority remains the same: to offer reliable, interoperable and easy-to-use solutions, while preparing for the mobility of tomorrow.
